Transmission of HCV --- HCV is a blood-borne virus circulating in low titer in the blood stream. Most possible issues for transmission of HCV are transfusion of blood or blood products, transplantation of organs, and sharing of contaminated needles. Less than 50 % of acute C hepatitis patients have the history of exposure. A small number of studies demonstrate perinatal, sexual, household, and occupational transmission. Types and size of inoculum and the route of transmission, as well as the titer of virus related to the risk of transmission.
